I am a Professor of Philosophy at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, specializing in medieval philosophy. My research focuses on themes such as causation, modality, truth, divine foreknowledge, and the relationship between divine and created action. I have published on a range of medieval thinkers, including Thomas Aquinas, John Duns Scotus, Peter Olivi, and Thomas Bradwardine. Beyond medieval philosophy, my interests extend to early modern philosophy, metaphysics, philosophy of religion, and the history of science.
My book Aquinas on Efficient Causation and Causal Powers was published by Cambridge University Press in 2022. I am currently writing a second book called Divine and Created Causation in Medieval Philosophy. I have served as President of the Society for Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy and I am currently an Assistant Editor for the American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly.
